Would Madhuri Dixit have to wait for some more time before she makes her comeback on the big screen? If some rumour mongers in the world of web have to be believed, this could well be the case. Buzz is that Dedh Ishqiya may be getting pushed by at least a couple of weeks since Madhuri's co-star in the film, Arshad Warsi, has two back to back films arriving in the month of January.
"Mr. Joe B Carvalho, which is produced by his long standing secretary Bhola, is arriving on 3rd January while as per the original plans, Vishal Bhardwaj produced Dedh Ishqiya arrives a week later, i.e. on January 10. Since Arshad can't be expected to promote both films almost simultaneously, more so since he is also expected to kick-start the shooting of The Legend of Michael Mishra soon, possibility of Dedh Ishqiya being moved ahead has been discussed," says an insider.
If at all this indeed happens, Madhuri's fans would have to wait for a much longer period.
"In any case first the film was supposed to release this month and then it was pushed ahead to January. If at all the film is moved any further, it would have to be January end or February since it won't be fighting Salman's Jai Ho that arrives on January 24," a trade source adds.
While there has been no official communication made by either Shemaroo or Vishal Bhardwaj yet, Arshad puts all speculations to rest.
"I spoke to folks at Shemaroo over the weekend and the film is coming on January 10, for sure," assures Arshad, "We are working out a plan so that once I am back from Coorg, where I am currently shooting for some songs for Mr. Joe B Carvalho, I could promote both the films simultaneously."
To accommodate that, he has also moved around his dates for The Legend of Michael Mishra. "Yes, I was supposed to start the film in December but now it would only be after mid-January," he says.
On a lighter note he adds, "I am just one guy yaar; I am doing the maximum, I can do. All said and done, the kind of excitement that I would generate by going to five cities and promoting it there, Madhuri can do it by sending just one tweet."
Among all the Indian actors who have made forays into firangi filmdom, Irrfan Khan stands tall. In the last 5 years Irrfan had the singular honour of working in two of the most successful multi-Oscar winning international projects Slumdog Millionaire and The Life Of Pi.
He has also been part of the latest Spiderman flick and did a short-film for Mira Nair co-starring Natalie Portman.
Not that Irrfan is sitting on his laurels. His hunger for new challenges is in his own words, insatiable.
Irrfan's latest challenge is his biggest to date. For a Brazilian film that he has said yes to, the method actor known to go to great lengths to get it right, would be learning how to speak Arabic.
Reluctant to reveal details, Irrfan said, "It's too early to reveal any details. But it's a Brazilian film. And I play an Arabic character. So yes, I'll have to learn Arabic from scratch. I don't know the language at all. But I am hoping it wouldn't be so difficult to do since it belongs to the linguistic family as Hindi and Urdu."
The Brazilian film is not the only one where Irrfan is grappling the grammar and accent of an unfamiliar language.
In Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider, Irrfan plays a Kashmiri character and is trying to master the nuances of the way Urdu is spoken in the Valley.
"We are trying to keep the accent at a minimum so that it doesn't intrude into the character's connectivity with the audience. Very often we see the accent come in the way. Vishal Bhardwaj and I don't want that to happen. It's important for an actor to avoid showing off any skill that he learns for a role."
Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bullett Raja has opened to mixed responses. For those who feel this avant-garde director should not have swerved away from his trademark style, Tigmanshu has more of the same unexpected cinema coming up.
Says the director, "I am sorry to say I've become a victim of my own image. People expect me to make the same kind of cinema over and over again. I'd die of boredom if I keep making dacoit films and Paan Singh Tomars throughout my career. I need to expand my horizon. And the audience needs to appreciate that effort to grow."
Tigmanshu says he was initially disappointed by the collections. "I don't know why Saif Ali Khan's fans didn't turn up for the film when it opened. He has proven himself recently in a solo-hero film Cocktail. Maybe his fans like to see him play the urbane cool dude. But if you ask me, both Saif and Jimmy Sheirgill were very cool in Bullett Raja."
So would his next film take Tigmanshu to the zone and tone that audiences expect from him?
"Not necessarily," reveals Tigmanshu. "My Milan Talkies is very much within the space that audiences want to see me in. But for that I'll have to wait till the end of next year, as my leading man Varun Dhawan is busy until then."
The filmmaker who is about to take a holiday with his wife and daughter pooh poohs reports that Varun is not doing Milan Talkies. "Who says Varun is not doing my film? Bahot hi pyara script hai. And Varun bahot likeable actor hai. We are both very happy about working together. But it will take some time. Varun has to first complete his father David Dhawan's film. Then he goes into Sriram Raghavan's thriller and then he has a comedy produced by Karan Johar. After this we start work on Milan Talkies at the end of 2014."
A new leading lady would be cast with Varun.
"There is time for that. In the meanwhile I am not sitting idle. I am starting another film while I wait for Varun's dates," declares Tigmanshu. "I don't know what it would be. I've a couple of ideas. After I return from my holiday I'll make up my mind."

The bench comprising of Justice S J Vazifdar and Justice GS Patel upheld the April 1 order of the single-judge bench, refusing to restrain Pen India Pvt Ltd and its owner Jayantilal Gada from releasing the 3D version of the movie. Sholay 3D is slated for release in early January next year.

Gone are the days when actors only appeared in films. Nowadays, they are equally focussed on their entrepreneurial ventures as much as on their movies. One such name is that of the gorgeous Bong-shell Bipasha Basu, who after having started her career as a model went onto do films and ad commercials, has now got into the entrepreneur arena!
After having successfully launched her fitness CDs, she has now stepped into fashion space by launching her own accessory line through an online store named 'trunklabel.com'. Talking about the same, she said that after venturing into fitness, she wanted to touch upon the fashion aspect by starting with accessories. She will be launching belts, jewelries and bags which can be purchased through a dedicated website online. The reason that she stated for starting an online 'store' is because one can log on according to one's convenience. She added that stores are an age-old concept but online is the way forward, through which one can reach out to many people.
Meanwhile, the buzz is also around the release of her third fitness DVD named 'Unleashed', which will release this month.
