The membership of CINTAA can only be applied and obtained from the CINTAA office as NO AGENTS WHATSOEVER ARE INVOLVED IN OBTAINING THE CINTAA MEMBERSHIP.

Please read the following before applying

  1. Membership of CINTAA is meant for any Indian national performer who is physically, mentally and emotionally fit to perform as an artist and who plays or has been engaged to play a significant role in a feature film, TV serials, Tele films, live performances, advertisement films shown on screen, digital or any new media who reside within the boundary of the Union of India.
  1. Foreign Nationals as well as Non- Resident Indians can obtain a work permit for limited time. This work-permit shall be granted for a year or the period of project/ valid passport and employment visa validity, whichever is less by paying fees of Rs. 10,000/- for a limited time.

BECOMING CINTAA MEMBER

One can become a CINTAA member by submitting the duly filled Membership Form of Rs. 150/- (non-refundable) along with the required documents. If approved, he/she can obtain 1st year work permit by paying entrance fees of Rs. 10,000/- (validity 1 year). On or before expiry of 1st year work-permit, one can renew his/her second year work permit by paying entrance fees of Rs. 10,000/- (validity 1 year). In third year i.e. Regular membership there will be an interview/assessment of work done in past two years of work-permit. If admitted for regular membership, he/she will have to pay one time entrance fees of Rs. 10,000, plus one time members welfare fund of Rs. 500/-  and a regular subscription of Rs. 1200/- per annum. As soon as your card expires (validity as printed on the Membership Card), he or she must renew it. Failing to do so shall result in late fees and cancellation of your card. Prior to applying for membership of CINTAA he/she is requested to read, understand and undertake to abide by the Constitution of CINTAA and its rules and regulations. Stages of Membership

    1. Work-permit First year:- Any individual desirous of becoming a member will have to apply on the prescribed form ( physical or online) duly filled and submit with all required documents as informed for a one year work permit along with entrance fees of Rs. 10,000 (non- refundable) by cheque/pay order/ online.Eligibility: (please note that the Scrutiny Committee has the right to chalk out Administrative guidelines for smooth functioning of the association subject to approval of EC)
      • Proof of successful completion of minimum of 1 year training/diploma/degree etc. (Original & photocopy) along with other necessary documents mentioned in the application form. OR
      • Proof of work in the form of DVD show reel or links. OR
      • For Freshers -Letter of employment from a production house/channel for a significant character in a film/TV show or an on-camera audition in CINTAA’s office.
      • Any applicant may be called for an Interview/ audition at CINTAA office, if he/she is unable to fulfill the above criterions or if required by the scrutiny committee.
    2. Work-permit Second year: A work permit holder may apply for a renewal in second year after paying renewal fees of Rs. 10,000/- for the second year within 30 days of expiry of the 1st year work permit. He/she can also do the same after 30 days but with a late fee of Rs. 500 per month from the date of expiry of 1st year work permit after giving valid and appropriate proof/reason for the delay. The second year work permit will only be issued from the date of expiry of 1st year permit and not from the date of fee payment. And the fees paid for the same will not be refunded, under any circumstances. In case of failure to renew his second year work-permit within a period of 12 months from the date of expiry of the 1st year work-permit, his/her work-permit will be deemed as cancelled. However, he/she may apply for a fresh first year work-permit. During the above 2 years period, work permit holder will not enjoy the right to vote during elections. However artists’ dispute cases, if any, may be taken up during the work-permit term, given that the dispute did not arise prior to issuance of the 1st year work-permit.
    3. Regular membership: shall be granted after successful completion of TWO consecutive years of work permit only. There will be an interview / audition /assessment of member’s work and conduct in past two years and the member will be briefed of his rights and duties for the association. If he/she is considered and admitted for regular membership, he/she will have to pay one time entrance fees of Rs. 10,000, plus membership welfare fund of Rs. 500/- and a regular subscription of Rs. 1200/- per annum. (Subscription fees of Rs. 1200/- pa is effective to all regular members w.e.f. 1st January 2017). A second year work permit holder has to apply for a regular membership in third year on or before expiry date of the second year work-permit. He/she can also do the same within 6 months but with a late fee of Rs. 500 per month from the date of expiry of 2nd year work permit after giving valid and appropriate proof/reason for the delay.  In case of failure to apply for his/her regular membership in the third year within a period of 6 months from the date of expiry of 2nd year work-permit, he/she will have to undergo the process of obtaining first and second year work-permits all over again in order to become eligible for regular membership.
      • For Senior or Established Artistes EC may provide direct Regular Membership upon payment of the full entrance fees of Rs.30,000/- membership welfare fund of Rs. 500/- and a regular subscription of Rs. 1200/- per annum. It is also applicable for Ex-Members applying post cancellation of their names from CINTAA due to nonpayment of their subscription fee or the Ex-members paying all above amounts along with lapsed subscription amounts due to non-payments in order to retain their old membership number.
    4. Life Member: A person who has attained the age of 18 years and completed THREE consecutive years as a regular member without any arrears in the subscription can apply for Life membership by paying a one-time fee of Rs. 15,000/-
      • He/ She should have played at least six different prominent characters in feature films, and/or in TV serials or Tele Films, digital or any new media, continuity role in one serial for two-three years. However, the final discretion lies with the Executive Committee.
    5. Child Artiste: The child is defined as a person who is below 18 years of age. There will be a separate design card for child artiste for easy identification.
      1. CINTAA shall strive to ensure that the production house should make arrangement and provide proper amenities like quality food with fruit and clean water on time and separate room facility with attached toilet. The Producer should also make arrangements for children to study on the sets in spare time in between the shoots.
      2. Parent/Guardian/Caretaker of the children should be allowed to remain with the children during shooting.
      3. In case of reality shows a child who is eliminated in the round from the show due to his / her weak performance compared to his/her counterparts in the show, be not subjected to adverse/ harsh comments by the judges of the show, otherwise, the child may feel humiliated and go into depression.
      4. Proper medical assistance/doctor should be present on the sets.
      5. No child artistes should be replaced without any genuine reasons, if so then their guardians/parents should be informed one month in advance.
      6. The child should not miss school on account of the shooting, for more than 10 days in an academic year work.
      7. The working hours and working conditions for child artistes must be in strict compliance with the rules and guidelines prescribed by the Women & Children Welfare Ministry.
      8. Child-friendly makeup and lights should be used during shoots.
      9. There should be no violation of child rights such as doing away with lunch break and policy against child abuse should be maintained.
      10. Child artiste is not eligible to apply for Life membership.

Payment for children

Children below the age of 18 years are legally not allowed to operate bank accounts or sign legal documents such as contracts. Therefore, the payment made towards their participation should be in form of fixed deposits under the guardianship of their parents/next of kin/guardians. Provided that a minimum of 50% of the payment must be set aside for children in fixed deposits or bonds that mature when they reach the age of 18 years. Out of the 50% given to parents/guardians the balance payment of school fee for that particular academic year should be cleared thus ensuring continuation in the school and indirectly assisting parents. The child’s parent would naturally be the formal guardians unless a case is made out that it would be against the best interests of the child.

  1. Members can avail various benefits at subsidized rates through benevolent works undertaken by CINTAA including but not limited to empanelment with various hospitals, physicians, dentists, pathologists, eye- surgeons, Talent – management, wellness programme etc.
  2. The membership card is a documentary proof of being a bonafide member of a Registered Trade Union Body, proof of member’s identity and can be useful in securing visas.
  • Membership Card helps in establishing your identity, profession during the times of law and order situations.
  1. Professional disputes of members against any producer in respect of Film/TV Serial will be considered by the Association from day one from the date of grant of work permit of the Association; however disputes prior to issue of work permit will not be entertained. Also, even after the grant of work-permit or regular membership, disputes which are more than three years old will not be entertained. However, the discretion to take up the case shall rest with the Executive Committee.
  2. Member may attend workshops organized by CINTAA at nominal price.
  3. Compensation:
  4. In case of unfortunate Accidental Death of the Member on shooting set – Rs 2 lakhs to the nominee of the deceased.
  5. In case of Natural Death of the Member Rs. 1,00,000/- to the nominee, provided he has completed minimum period of 5 years of Membership on or prior to the date of demise.
  6. In case of Partial or Permanent Disability due to accident on set & loss of any part of the body – Rs. 75,000.
  7. Emergency Medical Relief up to Rs. 50,000/-, provided he/she has completed minimum period of 5 years of Regular Membership.
  8. Medical/Financial Assistance, ‘Relief’ to the needy and deserving members only through Association / Cine Artiste Welfare Trust provided he / she is a Member of CINTAA continuously for a minimum period of 5 years as on the date of the application and he / she should be above 65 years of age.

The amount of aforesaid compensation is subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria please read the Constitution for further details.

Do's
  1. Always be punctual at work.
  2. Update your personal information (i.e. contact/email/address) with CINTAA, and pay subscription/fees on time without waiting for a reminder.
  3. Update Association of any setbacks like irregular working hours/unhygienic conditions.
  4. Maintain a written conversation with Producer or his/her representatives in the form of messages/whatsapp/email w.r.t remuneration, block dates, call time etc.
  5. Maintain CINTAA diary, regularly.
  6. Always carry your updated membership card.
  7. Approach CINTAA before serial goes off-air/dubbing of movie, in case of any dispute.
  8. Ensure that you receive 90% of the total remuneration before dubbing of the movie.
  9. Write to your Association in case of any grievance instead of posting it on social platforms.
  10. Forward your agreement to CINTAA within 15 days of signing the contract.
  11. Take acknowledgement of authorized representative of Production house on a copy of your invoice.
Don'ts
  1. Don’t leave the sets without finishing your work, contact your Zonal Head/ CINTAA incase of any emergency.
  2. Don’t sign agreement without reading, understanding each clause.
  3. Don’t sign the agreement leaving blank space between the last line of the agreement & your name.
  4. Don’t shoot on 26th January, 1st May and 15th August
  5. Don’t approach media or channel directly in case of any dispute.
  6. Don’t approach Producer directly after registering your complaint with CINTAA.
  7. Don’t dub any other artistes voice without obtaining their/CINTAA’s consent.
  8. Don’t replace any other artiste without NOC from fellow artist/ CINTAA.
  9. Don’t sign blank/incomplete vouchers.
क्या करना
  1. शूटिंग लोकेशन पर हमेशा समय से पहुंचें।
  2. सिंटा को अपनी ताज़ा व्यक्तिगत जानकरी (पता/इमेल/फोन नंबर आदि) से अवगत कराना तथा अपनी सब्सक्रिप्शन फ़ीस समय पर देना आपकी ज़िम्मेदारी है; ऑफ़िस के रिमाइंडर का इन्तज़ार न करें।
  3. शूटिंग-आवर्स, सफ़ाई-रखरखाव, खाने की गुणवत्ता में किसी प्रकार की अनियमितता या लापरवाही के बारे में, जल्द से जल्द, सिंटा को अवगत कराएं.
  4. प्रोडक्शन कंपनी या उसके प्रतिनधि से बात करते समय पेमेंट, ब्लॉक डेट्स, कॉल टाइम आदि के ज़रूरी रिकॉर्ड, लिखित सबूत के तौर पर, एस एम एस, व्हाट्सऐप, इमेल आदि के रूप में अपने पास संभाल के रखें।
  5. सिंटा डायरी (फिजिकल या डिजिटल) में (इन-टाइम व आउट-टाइम के कारण के साथ) सभी एंट्रीज नियमित भरें और प्रोडक्शन कंपनी के प्रतिनधि से अनिवार्य रूप से हस्तक्षर करा लें।
  6. अपडेटेड सिंटा कार्ड हमेशा अपने साथ रखें और स्टूडियो निरीक्षण के समय सिंटा केयर कमिटी के वालंटीयर्स को पूछने पर अवश्य दिखाए।
  7. प्रोडक्शन हाउस से किसी प्रकार के तकरार के मामल में टीवी धारावहिक के ऑफ-एयर जाने(बंद होने), तथा किसी फिल्म की डबिंग से पहले ही सिंटा से संपर्क करें।
  8. किसी फिल्म की डबिंग से पहले ही अपने कुल पेमेंट का 90 प्रतिशत राशि अवश्य ले लें।
  9. आपको अगर अपने एसोशिशन से कोई शिकायत है तो सिंटा ऑफिस में आकर बताएं न कि किसी सोशल मीडिया का इस्तेमाल करें।
  10. प्रोडक्शन हाउस से प्राप्त एग्रीमेंट की एक कॉपी दस्तखत करने की तारीख के 15 दिन के अंदर सिंटा को फ़ॉरवर्ड करें।
  11. इनवॉइस/ बिल देते समय, उसकी एक कॉपी, प्रोडक्शन हाउस के प्रतिनिधि से दस्तखत कराकर अपने पास अवश्य रख लें।
क्या नहीं करना
  1. अपना काम पूरा किए बिना सेट न छोडें। किसी प्रकार की इमरजेंसी में अपने यूनिट/ ग्रुप या ज़ोनल हेड से या सिंटा ऑफिस से संपर्क करें।
  2. एग्रीमेंट/कॉन्ट्रैक्ट में लिखी बातों (क्लॉज)को ठीक से पढ़े और समझे बिना उसपर दस्तख़त न करें।
  3. एग्रीमेंट की अंतिम पंक्ति और अपने दस्तख़त / नाम के बीच थोडी भी खाली जगह न छोडें।
  4. राष्ट्रीय पर्व 26 जनवरी 15अगस्त तथा 1मई (अनिवार्य छुट्टियों) को शूटिंग न करें।
  5. किसी भी विवाद के मामले में सीधे मीडिया(अखबार/ चैनल) के पास न जाएं।
  6. किसी प्रोड्यूसर के खिलाफ एकबार सिंटा में शिकायत दर्ज कराने के बाद उस प्रोड्यूसर से सीधे सम्पर्क न करें।
  7. किसी अन्य कलाकार की आवाज की डबिंग उसकी या सिंटा की सहमति के बिना करें।
  8. किसी भी कलाकार की जगह उस कलाकार या सिंटा की सहमति के बिना काम न करें।
  9. ब्लैंक/अधूरे वाउचर पर दस्खत न करें।
The Members are requested to keep the above point of view while discussing or reaching the agreement with producers.

Bye Laws

  1. No Artist shall be replaced without obtaining their/ CINTAA’s NOC.
  2. Any member who desires to read the minutes of the Executive Committee meeting should come to office and read the minutes with prior written permission of the Hon. Gen. Secretary.
  3. Any member making a query pertaining to the regular operations and accounts of the Association shall first approach the CINTAA office. If the same has not been replied to/ resolved within a period of 3 months, the member can approach Labour Commissioner’s Office directly, after informing the CINTAA office in writing. Any member approaching the Labour Commissioner’s office to obtain such information, without approaching the CINTAA office first, shall be served a show-cause notice and disciplinary action shall be initiated.
  4. Any benefits (Clause 9 – Benefits) whatsoever by the Association will not be available to the Members who are in default of their subscription, unless exempted by the Executive Committee, by passing a resolution to this effect. The Executive Committee also reserves the right to ask for relevant documents, including but not limited to bank statements/passbook, utility bills, ITR or any other document as deemed fit by the Executive Committee for such sanction. The Executive Committee’s decision upon scrutiny of such documents shall be final and binding on the member. The discretion and decision of the Executive Committee shall be final and binding.
